A conversation with ChatGPT about Fan Engagement
I think that it’s fair to say that the New Year has brought a realism into the conversations that we are having with our clients. Our starting point is, as always, how technology can help connect them with fans. Now we are additionally discussing revenue and margin rather than just reach. Many factors have contributed to this with the tipping point being Apple limiting the effectiveness of advertising in the iOS ecosystem. The reaction from the big brands (Nike, Porsche etc.) was to double down on loyalty programmes, many using NFT technology, and to talk about Fan Engagement rather than Fan Marketing.
Engagement and Marketing can be regarded by some as interchangeable but in reality they are subtly but distinctly different. Rather than try and give my opinion on the differences, I decided to use ChatGPT to explain those differences as it distils the considered opinions of many into an easily digestible viewpoint which I have found is a great level setter if you are embarking on understanding something new.
As you will see below, the conversation leaves open to what extent and at what speed Web3 technologies will impact fan engagement and we do ahve a viewpoint on that :-)
It is pretty simple; Creative people have and will always create using the tools that allow them the most freedom and ability to monetise as they desire. If they are able to use Web3 to create great experiences, products and services, the change will be profound.
